Our favourite Things inCalgary

WHETHER YOU'RE LOCAL OR VISITING, WE’RE EXCITED TO SHARE A FEW OF OUR FAVOURITE SPOTS IN THE CITY WE CALL HOME.

FOOD

  • Caesar’s Steakhouse

    512 4 Ave SW
A true Calgary institution, serving Alberta beef since 1972. Come for the steak, stay for the best dirty martini in the city.

  • Palomino Smokehouse

    109 7 Ave SW
John’s favourite BBQ joint - serving up smoky meats, cold pints, and good vibes. Check out the basement for live music most nights, or soak up the sun on their patio.

  • Made by Marcus

#121 1013 17 Ave SW (and other locations)
Calgary’s claim to ice cream fame! Thea swears by the Lemon Curd Blueberry, but every flavour is amazing.

  • Great Taste

    123 2 Ave SE
This spot holds a special place in our hearts - it’s our go-to spot for Alberstat family dinners. Don’t miss the soup dumplings or the Sichuan chicken—they’re unforgettable.

  • Begonia Bakehouse

    1502 14 Street SW
Our favourite local bakery, run by the sweetest family. Both the Richardsons and Hays are proud regulars.

DRINKS

  • Ship & Anchor Pub

    534 17 Ave SW
A beloved dive bar with legendary characters and the sunniest patio in the Western Hemisphere (probably). A local classic.

  • Missy’s This & That

    348A 14 Ave SW
Ranked the 13th best bar in Canada—and #1 in our hearts.

ACTIVITIES

  • Walk the Bow River

Start at the iconic Peace Bridge and stroll east toward Confluence Park near Inglewood - Calgary’s hub for craft breweries and vintage shopping.

  • Explore 4th Street in Mission

A charming street perfect for a stroll. End at the Elbow River and stop by some of our favourites: Earl’s Tin Palace (IYKYK), Peasant Cheese Shop, and Mercato.

  • Wander 17th Ave in the Beltline

A lively stretch filled with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Great for people-watching, grabbing a coffee at Cafe Beano or a sandwich at Scozzafozza Deli.

  • Day Trip to Canmore

Just an hour’s drive from Calgary, Canmore is the gateway to the Rockies. With stunning views, boutique shops, and great cafés (Le Fournil and Eclipse are our favourites).

  • Visit Banff

About 1.5 hours from Calgary, Banff is a world-famous mountain town. Visit the Banff Springs and get a Beavertail on the main street.
